The overnight shift
I am having a hard time coming up with well defined tasks for my agents to work on overnight while I’m sleeping. There are two big challenges:
- A lot of what I’m working on significantly benefits from me reviewing material before moving on to the next step. This is either because I don’t know exactly what I want yet or maybe I’m just not good enough at specifying the outcomes up front.
- Nothing I’m asking for takes an agent 8 hours to execute–most tasks don’t take more than 10 minutes and I’m not sure if any are beyond 30 minutes. These guys are so freaking fast when it comes to processing information
I could chain a whole bunch of stuff together and have a bunch agents picking things up and working on them, but that just produces a whole bunch of work for me to review in the morning. It feels like the old days when I had a team in Europe and I’d wake up to a slew of message and updates that needed my attention.
I’m having a blast spinning a whole bunch of plates with these agents—way more than I could when it was just me. But my own context window has limits and if I’ve got too much running simultaneously the quality of the work starts to suffer. Maybe I need to change the way I’m thinking about the problem and my role…
